A validation definition allows you to validate data on a record by setting rules specific to the fields in your file definition and then be notified when a field does not meet the validation requirements.
For example, if you want to be notified when a record in your data does not contain a Job Type (it is null), then you can create a validation definition to validate the data.
Optionally, when you create a moov definition with the validation step, you can either continue processing the moov or stop subsequent steps from processing if a validation fails.
Create a new Validation Definition
To create a new Validation definition, access the Admin Console by clicking on your initials at the top right hand corner.
Now you will want to click on Validation Definition and click on the Add and then Create New Definition
NOTE: If you don't have all the tabs like File Definitions, Validation Definitions, etc. available in your admin console, contact our support team and we can enable them on your detamoov account.
Enter a name and description and select the File Definition. In order to create a validation definition, you must first Create a file definition related to the validations. Click Save Changes.
Create a new Validation Protocol
A validation protocol allows you to create one or more validation rules based on the input fields of the selected file definition.
First step would be to click on Add Protocol button
Click on the Add Rule button
Select the Input field, then choose whichever Validation Rule you want. Next you will want to decide the Severity of the rule (Informational, Warning or Error) and give a Validation Message. Then click OK.
Next you will want to click on Save Changes
Publish a Validation Definition
It is important that you publish your Validation definition as it will not be made available to you when creating the moov definition. The Publish button is at the top right hand corner when you click in the Validation Definition.
